Mo Farah becomes Right To Play Ambassador

Global charity Right To Play is pleased to announce today (Thursday) that top British middle-distance athlete, Mo Farah has joined them as an ambassador.

At just 24 years old, Mo Farah is already the best British male middle-distance runner for nearly two decades.  Already ranked second in Europe for 5000 metres after taking silver at last years European Championships and winning the European Cross Country Championships.  With the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace and the World Championships in Osaka, Japan taking place this month Mo has been working hard to prepare for the competitions, however he took this as an opportunity to announce his new role with Right To Play.

Mo Farah said: ‘I came to England from Somalia when I was a young boy so I have seen what it is like as a child to be less fortunate than others.  I hope that through raising funds for the charity, children throughout the world will be able to benefit from the initiatives.’

Right To Play is a charity that uses specially designed sport and play programmes to improve health, build life skills, and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease.  Working in both the humanitarian and development contexts, Right To Play has projects operating in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Chris Robinson, National Director of Right To Play said: ‘We are so delighted to have Mo’s support in the humanitarian work we do, it is top athlete’s like Mo, who help raise awareness and funding for the projects that Right To Play carry out.’
