Luke Pegna's Europe to Africa Swim

Luke Pegna wearing a Right To Play t-shirtThis month another volunteer fundraiser will undergo a challenge all in the name of raising money for Right To Play.

Luke Pegna has set his sights on swimming from Europe to Africa and will set off from Tarifa in southern Spain on the 25th June and will head for Morocco 18kms away.

The swim depending on the current and tides though can vary in length from 18 to 22 kms and is expected to take Luke anywhere between four and seven hours to complete.

The challenges he will face are several. The Straits of Gibraltar are the 2nd busiest shipping lane in the world and in addition to ships and the weather other hazards include sharks, killer whales, and the possibility of hypothermia.

He is undertaking the challenge alone, and will be only the 11th person from the UK to have done it.
